The lesson plan

⏱ 90-Minute Sample Schedule

No boring drills, no silent worksheets — every activity gets teens speaking French from the first minute.

0:00 – 0:10
Tu t'appelles comment ? — First Contact
Before anyone has time to feel self-conscious, every teen in the room has already said something in French. We skip the "theory first" approach entirely. Within minutes, they're asking each other's names across the table — in French, not English.
Language focus: Bonjour, salut, tu t'appelles comment ?, je m'appelle…
0:10 – 0:30
The Essentials — French Teens Actually Use
Forget outdated phrasebooks. We teach the greetings and expressions real French teenagers use — the ones that make you sound natural, not like a textbook. By the end of this block, your teen knows exactly how to start a conversation in French without freezing.
Language focus: Ça va ? / Ça va bien, merci. / Super ! / C'est cool. / Pas mal.
0:30 – 0:50
Je me présente — The Full Introduction
Name, age, nationality, city — your teen builds their full introduction in French, sentence by sentence, with the teacher's support. Then they deliver it to the group. That moment of speaking French to real people — not just repeating after a teacher — is where confidence comes from.
Language focus: J'ai … ans. Je suis … (nationalité). J'habite à … Enchanté(e) !
0:50 – 1:05
C'est qui ? — Personality Adjectives Game
Through a fast-paced guessing game based on celebrities and characters they know, teens discover French adjectives that actually describe real people. They stop translating in their head and start thinking in French — because the words are attached to images and faces, not definitions.
Language focus: sympa, timide, drôle, sportif/ve, créatif/ve, sérieux/se, bavard(e)
1:05 – 1:20
Mon Numéro de Téléphone — Numbers in Context
Numbers learned in isolation are forgotten by the next day. Numbers learned while "exchanging phone numbers" with classmates stick. Each teen dictates their (fictional) French number to a partner, who writes it down — then checks. High-stakes repetition without the boredom.
Language focus: 0–20 + phone number patterns in French
1:20 – 1:30
Mon Profil Français ✏️
Every teen leaves with a personalised "French Profile Card" — their name, age, nationality, personality, and a sentence they wrote themselves. It's not a handout; it's theirs, in their handwriting. Something real to show for 90 minutes of work — on day one.
What they produce: a personal French profile card, taken home
